The piano quintets recorded here demonstrate that the common clichés of the brooding Brahms and the cheerful Dvořák do not tell the whole story: Brahms, too, has his cheerful moments, just as Dvořák allows us to peer into the depths. The piano duo Sivan Silver and Gil Garburg are thus able to showcase their full range of expression through each of the works; the Nomos Quartet harmonises just as perfectly.
