Die englische Musikkultur zu Weihnachten ist berühmt für ihre weit über die britischen Inseln hinaus bekannten Carols. Gemeinsam mit der schottischen Sopranistin Carine Tinney begibt sich ensemble feuervogel auf die Spuren dieser
faszinierenden Tradition.
Die Carols erzählen von der Weihnachtsgeschichte und wiegen das Jesuskind in zarten Schlafliedern. Ihre Wurzeln reichen jedoch weit tiefer zurück: Ursprünglich waren Carols volkstümliche Tanzlieder, deren Melodien später mit christlichen
Texten verbunden wurden. So spiegeln sie bis heute die bewegte religiöse und kulturelle Geschichte Großbritanniens wider.
Mit Gesang und einer farbenreichen Vielfalt historischer Instrumente – darunter Renaissanceconsort, mittelalterliche Blockflöten, Doppelflöten, Glocken, Zimbeln, Einhandflöten und Trommeln – lässt ensemble feuervogel die einzigartige Klangwelt aus fünf Jahrhunderten englischer Carol-Geschichte lebendig werden.
