Italy had been a childhood dream of 16-year-old Fanny Hensel. However, it was to be another 17 years before she was able to visit the country with her husband and son. The couple recorded their memories in a very personal way: Supplementing these with a few new compositions, Fanny selected some of the pieces she had composed in Italy and notated 18 works on coloured music paper, whilst her husband added a drawing to each piece. This travel album was not originally intended for the concert stage, but was for the family’s private enjoyment. The Ensemble Vokalzeit presents the first complete recording of this Italian Travel Album on SACD.
