Farewell gift
Germany’s orchestral landscape is unique in the world: whereas elsewhere one would have to travel several hundred kilometres to hear an orchestra of at least regional significance, here there are numerous orchestras of national and international standing. Among these is the Aachen Symphony Orchestra, which struck gold in 2002 with Marcus Bosch. Bosch, who since taking up his post has seen audience numbers in Aachen soar to previously unimagined heights, is by no means an insider’s tip after a ten-year tenure. His now-completed, highly acclaimed Bruckner cycle is surely the finest farewell gift he could have given to Aachen’s musicians and citizens. Alongside a contemporary interpretation of Bruckner, music lovers are also treated to the superb SACD recording technology of Coviello Classics.
