Franz Schubert‘s song cycle Winterreise, the undisputed highlight of the Romantic lieder genre, achieves new dimensions: Gregor Meyer sets a stylistically varied and atmospherically dense choral accompaniment alongside the solo baritone voice of Daniel Ochoa and the piano played by Christian Peix. Soloists, choir and conductor have intimately worked together to create a knowledgeable and refreshing reinterpretation of this timeless classic, which, with its new approaches to understanding both text and music, will hopefully soon be heard more often in the concert halls.
